Dive site Greenends Gully

Gungreens Quay, TD14 5SD

Max. Depth: 20 M
Minimum Grade: Ocean Diver
Currents: Can be strong past the end of the rocks caution advised
Access: Shore at High tide recommended

There are a variety of dives possible at the site. The easiest dive for access is Nest Ends as this is accessed on foot along a concrete path.

Greenends Gully is a remarkable dive site, however, it is accessed over sharp rocks and therefore not suitable for everyone. The depth can vary from 6 to 20 meters. Caution must be taken at all times as it is easy to go deeper and further than planned. A good indicator of going in the wrong direction for example, would be the water colour darkening, visibility deteriorating and water temperature reducing.

Check entry path to sea for trip hazards and sharp objects which could puncture suits.

Photography

Amazing opportunities to take some wonderful pictures of the local sea life.
One of the main attractions at the dive site is a very large conger eel. He has been seen hundreds of times over the years and tends to tuck himself away in the deep cracks and crevices around the dive site. Generally, there is an abundance of life to see and opportunities to get plenty of good snap shots.

A word of advice
If you come across any fish or crabs dead or dying, do not attempt to pick them up or help them get on their way. The conger eel can get protective of his next meal and could have left it because a diver disturbed him

Site facilities

Parking is available on a first come first served. The charge has recently change so you should bring plenty of £1 coins.
The car park is accessible and commonly used for kitting up and walking to the entry point. It’s approximately 25 yards. Alternatively, there are plenty of places to leave kit on the rocks that are closer to the water’s edge
