Ellerton lake is a 60-acre freshwater, spring fed lake located close to the A1 between Richmond and Northallerton just off the B6271.
There is a designated diving and open water swimming area.
Parking spaces with raised kit set up stations are located 50 meters from the small wooden jetty which allows both stride entry and steps into the lake.
Visibility can vary due to either algae or divers kicking up the silty bottom.
Many interesting features such as boats, concrete pipes, caravans, and platforms make this a great location for training dives and compass practice.
