Happy New Year to all of Cleveland Divers Members

Our club has much to look forward during 2024 and a new year has brought forward an abundance of new ideas that it is hoped will ensure that your club maintains and sustains a vibrant and proactive approach to diving, training and social events throughout 2024.

It has been some time since the last club newsletter but you can be assured that club business continues to be managed with thoughtful diligence and with the best interest of all members at its heart. It is hoped that this newsletter will be both informative and an enjoyable read.

The winter break from pool sessions comes to end as pool training for Try Divers (single and 4 weekly) and Ocean Diver trainees begins on Monday 5th February 2024, usual time

For those members striving to gain a higher diver grade it is hoped that the restructuring of the training programme for pool, theory and open water will provide a varied range of training events and experience opportunities, so watch this space!

Happily club membership remains strong with 36, members enjoying diving and expanding their diving experiences. Roll on springtime when the lesser mortals amongst us can get back into water with a temperature at least above 5 degrees.

The club’s financial status remains in a healthy place, and with a focus on the interest of club members, efficient use of funds is high on the committee’s agenda. A financial management review is underway with lots of great ideas about how to lower club running costs and make good use of funds such as investing club funds into a high interest earning account.

Managing the club’s equipment is a demanding job which Derek appears to carryout seamlessly, efficiently and effectively, including the care and maintenance of the club’s compressors. I am sure all members would like to pass on their thanks to Derek for the excellent job he does.

This winter the boat has had some repair work carried out by Garry Taylor. On behalf of the club many thanks go out to Garry for his hard work. Further repairs are needed along with repairs to the club’s trailer so short and medium term plans are to get the boat and trailer up and running in time for the beginning of this year’s diving season, when the weather and sea conditions improve

Whilst weather and sea conditions limit diving opportunities thoughts turn towards, planning the years diving events. So far there are plans for
